The first annual Marty 5K and 1 mile Fun Run which took place in Baymeadows on May 15th. Hundreds turned out to participate, volunteer or show support in this walk/run which was held by Memories of Love, an organization that benefits critically ill adults and their immediate families. OPHS Duo Baker/Benton Dominate Class 4A Region 1 Track and Field Championships

Orange Park, Flagler Palm Coast, Middleburg, Fleming Island, Sandalwood, Mandarin, Fletcher competed for a top four finish and a ticket to the state meet. Tops for qualifiers were double winners Demetre Baker and Samantha Benton, both of Orange Park and both winners of the shot put and discus events. Benton won the discus by just one inch while Baker dominated the discus by almost 40 feet. Fleming Island's Cameron Davis finished second in a scintillating 800 meter run with the top four finishers separated by less than one second. For defending boys state champion Flagler Palm Coast, sprinters Corey Shelling and Tyler Cue qualified with seconds and thirds in the 100 and 200 dashes. Flagler Palm Coast hurdler Kenlee Critcher qualified in both hurdle events: 110 High and 300 Intermediate. Mandarin's Mary Kate Ponder qualified in the 1600 and 3200 runs with teammate Eduardo Garcia finishing fourth in the 1600. Orange Park and Mandarin's girls teams finished third and fourth, respectively, with Flagler Palm Coast's boys team taking fourth.

Under the threat of rain, seniors from regional high schools met in a battle of North vs. South at Mandarin High School. The North prevailed with a score of 21-0.
